Gabriele Casale nasce a Latina il 5 Gennaio 1982. Dopo la maturità scientifica, presso il liceo "E. Majorana" di Latina, frequenta l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. Nel 2005 consegue la laurea in pittura, con lode, discutendo una tesi sull’Iperrealismo.
Dal 2001 al 2009 collabora, nel campo del mosaico, con l'Atelier d'arte spirituale del Centro Aletti di Roma.
Attualmente si occupa di pittura e mosaico.
Artist Statement
La mia ricerca pittorica nasce dall’osservazione del paesaggio e della natura intesi non come luoghi da rappresentare, ma come spazi interiori, memorie sensibili e territori emotivi.
La pittura diventa per me un processo di stratificazione, in cui il colore costruisce profondità e tensioni, e il segno affiora come traccia di un’esperienza più che come forma descrittiva.
Nel mio lavoro il confine tra figurazione e astrazione resta volutamente aperto: ciò che mi interessa non è l’immagine riconoscibile, ma la possibilità di evocare una presenza, un ritmo, un equilibrio instabile.
La superficie del dipinto è pensata come un campo di relazione, dove materia e luce dialogano lentamente, lasciando emergere una dimensione contemplativa.
La pittura è per me uno spazio di ascolto e di tempo, in cui l’immagine si costruisce per sottrazione, accettando l’imprevisto come parte integrante del processo.
Biography
Gabriele Casale was born in Latina on the 5th of January 1982. After obtaining the Secondary Education Certificate with scientific orientation at LiceoScientifico "E. Majorana" of Latina, he attended the Accademia di Belle Arti (Academy of Fine Arts) of Rome. In 2005, he graduated in fine art painting, cum laude, with a thesis on Hyperrealism.
From 2001 to 2009, he cooperated, in the field of mosaic, with the spiritual art atelier of Centro Aletti in Rome. Currently, he paints and makes mosaics.
Artist Statement
My painting practice originates from the observation of landscape and nature, understood not as subjects to be represented, but as inner spaces, sensitive memories, and emotional territories.
Painting becomes a process of stratification, where color builds depth and tension, and the mark emerges as a trace of experience rather than a descriptive form.
In my work, the boundary between figuration and abstraction remains deliberately open: what interests me is not a recognizable image, but the possibility of evoking a presence, a rhythm, an unstable balance.
The surface of the painting is conceived as a relational field, where matter and light engage in a slow dialogue, allowing a contemplative dimension to emerge.
For me, painting is a space of listening and time, in which the image is constructed through subtraction, embracing unpredictability as an integral part of the process.
